Under Armour Elite 24 Rundown

Brooklyn, NY - There was plenty of talent on display at the Under Armour Elite 24 this week. With prospects still evaluating their recruitment and figuring out what their future holds, the Elite 24 was a great way to end the summer for all.
Porter continues to shine

Class of 2017 small forward Michael Porter solidified himself once again this summer as one of the best players in the country in high school basketball. His summer basketball season is concluding here at the Under Armour Elite 24, which he is enjoying.
"I'm having a good time here, we've had a good second day so far," said Porter. "I'm really looking forward to the game tomorrow. I just look to get out a lot of great competition and exposure especially playing in front of NBA scouts."
Porter suited up for MoKan Elite (MO) once again this summer and feels he had a successful season.
"I had a great time this past AAU season, I haven't been one hundred percent because I hurt my back within the past two weeks," said Porter. "Other than that injury I got a lot out of this season."
He has cut his list to ten schools two weeks ago. Duke, Missouri, Stanford, Washington, UCLA, Indiana, Kansas, Virginia, Syracuse and Kentucky still remain on his list. Porter has a solid reason as to why he cut it down recently and also has a tentative plan for his recruitment going forward.
"I really want to commit by next summer so I'm just trying to speed up the process a little bit," he said. "I also know have grown better relationships with coaches from those ten schools. I am looking for a place where I can develop and somewhere I can see myself flourish"
The Missouri native looks to visit a school for their midnight madness this coming fall.
"I'm hoping to visit Kansas for their midnight madness event, Late Night at the Phog," said the 2017 standout.
Porter has a couple goals set out for himself this coming high school season at Father Tolton High School (MO).
"This high school season I just want to lead my team, be more of a complete player and dominate every game," he said.
Simmons looking at his options
Class of 2016 point guard Kobi Simmons had a solid showing at day two of the Under Armour Elite 24 practices. Simmons is more focused on taking in the whole experience with this event.
"This a great experience, bringing in all the top players around the country in an event like this is special," said Simmons. "It's a great event and I have loved taking part in it. It's all about basketball here, but we also have some time to have fun and take it all in."
He really enjoyed his time with the Atlanta Celtics on the Adidas Gauntlet circuit and hopes for the best for the guys he played with.
"I won't play with those guys any longer unfortunately, it was a great experience playing with those guys for two to three years," he said. "It's a sad moment, but I hope we all pursue our goals and see each other at the top at the end of it all."
Simmons announced three weeks ago that he is down to six schools in Xavier, Arizona, Kentucky, Ohio State, Georgia and North Carolina. He broke them down and spoke about what he likes in each school.
Xavier: "I like what they want to do with me in their system," he said. "Also another reason why they are in my final six is that my close friend Kaiser Gates will be playing their next year. We can feed off of each other and we can make each other much better."
Arizona: "I also like their style of play with how they push the ball," he told Rivals.com. "They do a good job of telling me how I can fit into their system."
Kentucky: "Kentucky speaks for itself with the amount of success they have had in the past," he said. "They've done a good job recruiting me."
Ohio State: "I loved how they developed D'Angelo Russell and what they did with him was great," he said.
Georgia: "Georgia is close to home and they've done a good job selling that to me," he said.
North Carolina: "They have clearly have a lot of history and it's one of the most storied programs around," he said.
The Georgia native has three visits planned going forward.
"I will be visiting Kentucky next weekend, UNLV on September 4th and Ohio State on September 11th," said the class of 2016 standout.
He has allowed UNLV back into his recruitment even though he recently cut his list. Simmons is looking forward to this visit.
"With UNLV I just want to see what the coach has in store, I haven't been up there before so I want to see everything they have to offer," he said.
Simmons isn't sure when he will make his decision on a school.
"My decision could come at any moment, I don't have a set time or date with it," he said.
Four for Frank
Class of 2016 point guard Frank Jackson is one of the most talented players in attendance at the Under Armour Elite 24. He's been very impressed with how the event has been run thus far.
"It's really been great, the talent here is tremendous and playing with these guys is a lot of fun especially being in New York City," said Jackson. "Under Armour is doing a great job putting this all together so I'm enjoying myself."
Jackson's stock rose this past year, but his attributes this all to one thing.
"I just felt I needed to get a little more exposure than I was previously getting," he told Rivals.com. "Playing against some of these top players has helped a lot as well."
He hasn't taken his recruitment for granted and is enjoying it all.
"I'm just grateful of all the opportunities I have honestly," he said. "Some people say they get sick of it all, but I'm just enjoying the process. It will be nice when it all ends and I come to decision."
Jackson - ranked No. 10 in the class of 2016 by Rivals - is down to four schools and has a lot to say about each school on his list.
BYU: "BYU has been recruiting me right from the start," he said. "They've shown love to me and have been great to me. It's only twenty minutes from my house and I've been involved with their program since I was eight years old by going to all their camps and events. I decided to decommit from them to see my other options and make sure it was the right choice."
Utah: "The Utah coaches have been great, they've been on me ever since I was in ninth grade too," he said. "After I committed to BYU I didn't talk to them, but right when I decommitted they were right on me."
Stanford: "I love Stanford, the campus is beautiful and the coaching staff has been very nice to my family and me," he said. "They make sure we are doing well and show a lot of love."
Duke: "Duke has been great, they kind of came in later than the other teams," he said. "They have really shown interest in me and have contacted me every day. I will be going on a visit there next weekend, which will be fun."
He is trying to learn more about Duke on his visit to the school next weekend.
"I just want to get a feel for the school and the overall campus," he told Rivals.com. "I'll get a chance to spend some time with the team and the guys there as well."
A decision could be coming soon for Jackson.
"After I visit them I'm going to go home and reevaluate everything to make hopefully make a decision from there," said Jackson.
Jackson has three factors in mind in terms of what he'll base his decision off of.
"I have to go off of three things when it comes to my decision," said the Utah native. "The environment I am going to be in, my education and ultimately who is going to get me to the next level."
Allen plans to cut down list soon
Jarrett Allen - ranked No. 17 in the class of 2016 by Rivals - finished up a solid summer on the Adidas Gauntlet playing for Texas Pro. He feels the amount of competition on this circuit has greatly helped him.
"On the Adidas Circuit you definitely have good competition to go against," he said. "There are a lot of good things with that circuit and I really got a lot out of it."
Allen is an intriguing prospect and has multiple aspects of his game, which have impressed many. He knows what he does well that sets him apart from others.
"I definitely like to run the floor and outrun other big men," said Allen. "I also have my go to right hand hook and I always strive to get my whole team involved."
He is working toward cutting down his list soon.
"I'm definitely working toward narrowing down my list as I am trying to keep in mind what schools I would like to have on my list," he told Rivals.com. "I'm looking to cut it down sometime this week."
Six schools have recruited the class of 2016 big man the hardest.
"The schools after me the hardest right now are Texas, Baylor, Kansas, Kentucky, UNC and Notre Dame," said the Texas native.
The schools recruiting him have told him how they will use him on the next level.
"They tell me I will be a big piece for them because a lot of them say they have a lot of shooters from outside, but need a big man down low," he said.
