Scoutsfocus All-American Day 2

Charlottesville, VA - The second day of Scoutsfocus All-American Camp was headlined by two 7-footers going at it. As it isn't always seen in a camp, Zach Brown and Raekwon Long put on quite a show as the two exchanged a hard, physical challenge for each. Brown ultimately came out on top.
Brown - a 2017 7-foot center from Miami Beach (FL)/South Beach All-Stars (FL) - set the stage for himself last week when he dominated the Nike Elite 100 Camp in St. Louis, MO. His opponent this time was 2016 Scott County (KY)/Charlotte Nets (NC) 7-foot center Raekwon Long, who has fallen out of the spotlight a bit recently.

Brown had the ideal game he needed to continue his momentum in a push for being one of the top players in the 2017 class. With a rather large upper frame, Brown is a back to the basket big. He is physical, keeps his hands high with the ball and is very aggressive when finishing at the rim, as well as securing rebounds. As he is working on his right hand, his hands - in general - looked better on the second day. His post moves were also much improved as he showed a variety of moves and finishes around and above the rim. He runs the floor extremely hard, blocks shots emphatically and lasted longer stamina wise than Long did.
His footwork is an interesting situation as it was pretty good at Scoutsfocus. Brown says he does ballet and football drills as a way to work on it. He already has South Carolina, Miami, Florida, Kentucky, Virginia, UCLA and UConn all over him, and Frank Martin has prioritized the Miami native at an early age. He is expected to take his first unofficial visit to Virginia either Saturday or Sunday. His upside going forward makes him one of the most valuable rising sophomores in the nation.
On the other end, Long will be transferring out of Scott County (KY) and hopes to go the prep route for his final two years of school. He's got an elite body that needs to be well conditioned and toned. His body needs to be used to his advantage, as well, as he must become more physical on the low block. Often settling for jumpers, his shot needs to be improved and his post game needs to be established. He did get hot at a point and start finishing around the rim against Brown's highly contested defense. Overall, he is a work in progress but still has plenty of time to develop.
Northern Kentucky is the only offer he currently holds. Long has a long list of interest and has taken visits already to Duke, Kentucky, Louisville, North Carolina, Clemson, Tennessee, Wake Forest and Georgia, along with the one program who has offered.
Both have a shot at being good in the long run, but need to continue to work on stamina and expanding their game. Brown - despite being a grade lower - is way ahead skill and development wise, however.
Other Top Performers
2017 forward Karim Ezzidene came over to America from France in the spring and has a ridiculously developed body that some college players posses. He can create off the dribble as a perimeter player, who can also go inside a bit with his frame.
2015 shooting guard Nico Clareth shot the ball very well, as he has all spring, and used his frame to get into the lane. He's confident and comfortable on the court, but still needs to get stronger. His stock soared this spring despite his team's struggle in the EYBL.
2017 point guard Eric Ayala has a good frame early in the game and can really score it when getting to the rim. Ayala still needs to work on his jump shot, but has already established a strong starting base with his size.
2016 point guard Tyler Jones has the capability of playing low division one ball at a high-academic school. Undersized, he makes up for it with his play in transition. At times, he needs to make better decisions when it comes to shooting the ball as opposed to passing it.
