Reebok Showdown Series Day 1

PHILADELPHIA, PA - On Saturday, the Reebok Showdown Series Championship made national headways as AAU teams from around the nation made their way to the event. With M33M, Houston Defenders, Grassroots Canada, SEBL, Southwest Illinois Jets and more in action, here is a recap of the top players from day one.
Quadri Moore - 2014 Combo Forward from Linden/Sports U (NJ)

Moore was the surprise of the day as the combination of his body, skillset and mismatch versatility made him one of the most unique players in attendace. The rising junior has lost fifty pounds in the past six months, going from 280 to 230 pounds. He can play on the perimiter with a large frame as he shoots the rock from three-point range, can drive to the basket from the wing position and create defensive mismatches on the perimiter. As Moore still has a long way to go, his physical improvement is huge and has contributed to landing offers from Cincinnati, Georgetown, Providence, Seton Hall, Rutgers and St. Joseph's. As La Salle, Villanova, Pittsburgh, Temple and Kansas are keeping tabs on him, the No. 83 player in the Rivals100 for 2014 is building himself a professional basketball player's body.
Seth Berger - 2013 Small Forward from Ballard/Emerald City Pioneers (WA)
The major standout from Saturday was a virtual unknown who came into Reebok Breakout Camp and made a name for himself. Berger continued his hot performance with the Emerald City Pioneers as his pullup jumper, ability to get in the lane and size drew a buzz from gym to gym in Philadelphia. At 6-foot-7, the wing prospect had the ability to create his own set shot and tore it up against a solid Showtime All-Stars team. Despite his size and shooting ability, Berger has no offers heading into his senior season. With some interest from Nevada, Washington State, Gonzaga, Florida State and Drake, he will likely land some offers next week. If not, that would be shock. Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see what happens if and when Gonzaga offers him a scholarship. As Berger's dream school, he has somewhat of a similar game to former Zag, Adam Morrison . Is the Ballard star about to breakout?
RaShawn Powell - 2013 Point Guard from Dr. Phillips/Showtime All-Stars (FL)
With Alabama head coach Anthony Grant - along with assistants from UCF and Cincinnati - watching on, "Pookie" Powell showed off his talents as a solid under the radar point guard. The No. 112 player in the Rivals150 for 2013 showed off his sweet stroke and speed as he led Diana Neal's squad to a hard fought win over the Emerald City Pioneers. As Powell is being pursued by around 12 schools who have offered, Anthony Grant is looking at his point guard spot for 2013 and wants to make a strong evaluation of the Florida native. While 2013 point guard Anthony Barber is down to the Tide, Louisville and Kansas, Grant could take a cautious effort and continue to evaluate Powell the rest of July.
A.J. Lapray - 2013 Combo Guard from Riverside Christian (NC)/Grassroots Canada
Throughout the summer, Lapray's stock has risen due to his thorough all around play. On Saturday, that continued as the Oregon native showed off his shooting ability, defensive skillset and exemplified why he could finish his career in the Rivals150 for the class of 2013. With Oregon State, UTEP, Rice and San Francisco on his tail, the 6-foot-4 athlete is catching the eyes of college coaches. As the likes of Florida, Providence, Texas, UConn, Arizona State and more continue to evaluate him, the 3-star talent is a true team player who does a little of everything extremely efficiently.
Wade Baldwin - 2014 Point Guard from St. Joseph's Metuchen/Sports U (NJ)
With a 6-foot-11 wingspan and great court vision in the open court, it is no surprise that one high-major coach called Baldwin the best sophomore they have recruited since current NBA talent Randy Foye. Baldwin, who is transferring from Immaculata to St. Joe's Metuchen, will team up with AAU teammate Karl Towns for his junior year. With great athleticism and an impressive jumper that he needs to show off more, Baldwin was being followed by college coaches around the state of Pennsylvania on Saturday. George Mason's Paul Hewitt, Temple's Fran Dunphy, Notre Dame's Mike Brey and West Virginia's Bob Huggins and Northwestern's Fred Hill were present at Baldwin's games. He is liking all of these schools, among others, as he holds offers from the Big Ten school to go along with UMass, Iona, Boston U, Seton Hall and St. Joseph's. After West Virginia recently got him on campus, the Mountaineers could be close to offering soon.
Johnathan Motley - 2013 Power Forward from North Shore/Houston Defenders (TX)
After making the all-star game at the Reebok Breakout Challenge earlier this week, Motley put in a strong effort on Saturday with the Defenders. The No. 144 player in the Rivals150 for the class of 2013, Motley is a talented four-man who can block shots, score in the post and even shoot it a bit with his mid-range game. With great length and size, Motley is an excellent option for high and mid-major schools looking for a power forward as Baylor, Richmond, SMU, UTEP, Houston, Clemson and more are looking at him. He took an unofficial visit to SMU nearly two months ago and came away impressed with the campus and staff as former Houston, and current Mustangs assistant, Ulric Maligi, is doing a phenomenal job of recruiting him.
Kaison Randolph - 2014 Combo Guard from Pennington/WE-R1 (DE/NJ)
Playing his best basketball since entering high school, Randolph's confidence is sky high as he and his chippy WE-R1 team full of guards went advanced to the Showdown Series U16 Final Four set for Sunday. The combo guard has great court vision and can put his nose on the ball as he constantly came up with steals and fought for rebounds. A scrappy mid-major level player, Randolph also showed off his crossover and improving his decision making when it came to shooting. With Seton Hall, Rutgers, St. Joseph's, Wagner, Drexel and other inquiring and interested, Randolph's struggle from the high school season is a thing of the past as he has been a promising prospect thus far in July.
